Our critique of last week’s episode (postponed by the World Series) suggested the writers might have been attempting to influence the national election by writing a script about immigration issues. This week’s episode again features a conspiracy theory of some unnamed and unknown Defense Contractor prolonging the incarceration of an alleged terrorist who is wrongfully imprisoned at Gitmo in order to keep it from being closed. Based on both of our experiences in the Justice Department, it is really far fetched, but the plot could influence viewers to be more sympathetic to the cause of closing down the U.S. detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
There are approximately 122 detainees still at Guantanamo, and according to news reports, of those released about 1 in 3 return to fight the U.S. somewhere around the world.
That being said, let’s address the plot, investigation, and acting. Wasn’t it hilarious to see Ellie’s brothers trying to protect her and interrogating her male coworkers. Funny too, to see Agent Torres use a ‘red herring’ to sick the brothers on Clayton Reeves, the British counterpart from MI6, and to see the brothers stop the elevator in order to interrogate Reeves. The writing was clever and well done. Did anybody besides us believe Gibbs would eventually become Ellie’s suspected love interest?
The investigation into a murder of a military “chaplain” was handled by all of the agents with Agent Bishop traveling to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Special Agent Gibbs expertly questioned a possible suspect, which ultimately solved the case. As we dug a little deeper into the background of this episode, we discovered a few interesting facts from the CBS website. Wilmer Valderrama, who plays Agent Torres, is involved with President Obama’s “Organizing for Action campaign on future efforts involving immigration reform and education.” He is also active in environmental causes. In addition, Duane Henry who portrays MI6 Officer Reeves, was in a 2006 film entitled, “Road to Guantanamo,” about 3 Brits who allegedly were wrongfully held at Guantanamo for 2 years until being released.
The next show airs on December 6, 2016 and is called “Pay to Play.” Want to offer any ideas of what that might be about? We have a few ideas. What are your opinions of tonight’s show? We would love to hear them.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

No disrespect. But like minded people will see and here the same thing. there was several points of politicization in this evenings program and when Karen read your synopsis it brought to light what I said during the program. I am watching more and more of HGTV and NCIS may one day loose it’s flavor. Bull already has. I still do enjoy NCIS NO. This was a tough election. Why the heck carry it to network television. Especially a series that did so well without it for so long. Cartoon channel is beginning to look pretty good.
Gibbs couldn’t have an affair with Bishop. She isn’t a redhead. Y’all have a fabulous, blessed Thanksgivinbg
